Description
The pleated Christmas heart is believed to be the first in the world, cut and pleated by H.C. Andersen. It is not known with any certainty whether it was a Christmas decoration designed for putting on the tree, as there was no handle on it. It is made of two strips of yellow and green paper. The Christmas heart measures 10 cm x 10 cm and it was made in the 1860s. It has been reported that it was made in 1862 and that it had been a gift for H.C. Ørsted's youngest daughter Mathilde.
It wasn't until the 1870s that pleated Christmas hearts for putting on the Christmas tree began to appear.
Engraving: It is possible to engrave a short message in the upper right corner of the pleated Christmas heart.
